Arnett Klugh III, MD, FAANS

Dr. Arnett Klugh III holds the position of endowed chief of pediatric neurosurgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Children’s Nebraska. He is committed to providing compassionate and innovative care to families and children throughout the Midwest and beyond.

Dr. Klugh is a meritorious graduate of the United States Naval Academy, having received recognition as a Secretary of the Navy Distinguished Graduate, and he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his neurosurgical residency at Stanford University Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital.

In 2008, Dr. Klugh established the comprehensive pediatric neurosurgery service at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, which continues to be the sole pediatric neurosurgery practice within a military treatment facility in the United States. He served as a combat neurosurgeon in Afghanistan and concluded his naval service in 2020, achieving the rank of Captain.

Dr. Klugh remains unwavering in his dedication to serving the community, actively reimagining pediatric neurosurgical care at Children’s Nebraska. His initiatives integrate effective communication, interprofessional collaboration, and advancements in technology to deliver precision medicine that resonates with families on a personal level.

He is board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and is an esteemed member of several professional organizations, including the AANS/CNS Section of Pediatric Neurosurgery, the Hanbery Society, the Neurosurgical Society of America, and the American Society of Black Neurosurgeons.
