Recruitment & Retention Committee
Our Recruitment and Retention Committee is dedicated to mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, establishing a robust pipeline into neurosurgery. We also provide mentorship to neurosurgical residents and fellows, ensuring their successful retention and progression in neurosurgical training.
The Research Committee creates early career research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, fostering their involvement in neurosurgical research. We establish research awards for outstanding medical students and connect them with neurosurgical trainees and faculty to develop strong research pipelines. Additionally, our research initiatives focus on examining equity and diversity within the neurosurgical field and clinical outcomes.

Education and Resident Affairs Committee
Our Education and Resident Affairs Committee designs educational programming, including webinars and in-person sessions, addressing the needs of students, trainees, and faculty interested in neurosurgery. We offer a resident mentorship program, matching trainees with faculty mentors throughout their training. Furthermore, we organize programming at national conferences within neurosurgery and medicine to foster relationships between ASBN members and other like-minded interest groups.
Service + Communications/
Outreach Committee
The Service and Communications/Outreach Committee leads community service initiatives, engaging ASBN members in local and regional communities. We also conduct social media and display campaigns to promote the mission and efforts of ASBN.
Senior Advisory Committee
The Senior Advisory Committee leverages the expertise, perspective, and advice of senior Black neurosurgery faculty to shape the directives and initiatives of ASBN.
Global Neurosurgery Committee
Our Global Neurosurgery Committee works to build relationships with neurosurgical counterparts in Caribbean and African countries, aiming to decolonize global neurosurgery efforts.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee ensures a sustainable inflow of monetary support for ASBN's mission through sponsorships, fundraising campaigns, and endowments.
